The TeraStation Windows Server NAS can be a versatile device for MSPs to provide their customers with limited budgets an affordable BDR solution, offering tremendous value to SMB looking to establish an enterprise-level BDR plan at entry-level prices.
Unlike dedicated BDR appliances from competitors that can be costly, such as requiring separate subscriptions for the device and other services, the WS5020 is a reliable storage/backup solution that doubles as a standalone BDR appliance, enabling flexible data recovery options in the face of a disaster, such as enabling flexible backup/restore options and being able to step in as a temporary backup server should another server go down, ensuring zero operational disruption while the original server is being serviced or replaced. The TeraStation features reliable hardware and provides security features such as 256-bit AES encryption to meet strict industry compliance and regulations, as well as supporting any cloud service of the customer’s choice. This provides customers the flexibility to store and back up data from physical servers, virtual machines, and the cloud, enabling both onsite and offsite locations for secure data storage and backup.
The TeraStation WS5020 runs Windows Server IoT 2019 for Storage Standard Edition, a binary equivalent of the Windows Server 2019 operating system made specially for NAS devices. The operating system ensures the NAS will integrate seamlessly into a Windows environment, as well as with all Microsoft-compatible services and software. The operating system also enables Hyper-V for expansive virtualization capabilities, such as creating virtual machines for low-cost, hassle-free recovery so MSPs can recover with little operational disruption or downtime. Being a Windows operating system, the NAS can also integrate any Windows-compatible cloud service or remote management platform, allowing for remote system management in case the business is unable to physically access the server. By replicating virtual machines from one Hyper-V host server to another, the Hyper-V Replica features creates a copy of a live virtual machine to another replica virtual machine, ensuring an operational server with no disruptions.
Windows Server IoT 2019 also comes with its own native backup and security features, such as data deduplication and shadow copy. Data Deduplication helps reduce the impact of redundant data. When enabled, the feature helps eliminate redundant data. This both maximizes free space for storage and backup and helps lower occurrences of data write errors from writing duplicate data, thus possibly preventing drive failures. Shadow Copy is a security feature that creates snapshots of files and volumes, even when they are in use. Should an emergency occur, the MSP can quickly revert to a previous copy of the data without needing to go through tedious, time-consuming backup restores and avoiding downtime.
The NAS is available in 2- or 4-bay desktop and 4-bay rackmount form factors, and offers robust backup, recovery, and virtualization options on a secure, reliable device. The NAS comes with a 3-Year Warranty (optional 5-year extended warranty available) and our award-winning, North America-based 24/7 support.
