Austin, TX, October 5th, 2022 — Buffalo Americas Inc., today issued the release of a new firmware version that brings the two-factor authentication feature for the TeraStation 3020, 5010, and 6000 network storage devices. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security feature that can add a significant layer of protection for your login credentials to secure data on your Buffalo NAS against cyberthreats such as hackers and ransomware.
Credential theft has been on the rise in recent years, and refinement in social engineering and brute-forcing techniques by threat actors means a strong login password alone is no longer an acceptable security barrier. Using 2FA is good cybersecurity hygiene practice as it ensures that your login information cannot be easily compromised by a threat actor, especially if you are logging in remotely, and can significantly improve data security for your NAS.
Buffalo urges our customers to visit the product pages for their respective TeraStation devices and download and install the latest firmware version to enable 2FA for their NAS. Please visit our Knowledge Base for instructions on enabling 2FA for your TeraStation network storage for maximum security.
As a leading manufacturer of network storage with over 40 years of industry experience, Buffalo takes data security very seriously, which is why we work with MSPs to make sure they provide their customers with NAS purpose-built for data protection. We urge you to take proper precautions in maintaining security of your data and systems, and please contact us if you have any questions.
