Applies to Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 8 Prerequisites · Install Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 on TeraStation WS5020 IoT or a Windows Server. · A Global Administrator account for the Microsoft 365 tenant you want to add.
Add a new Backup Repository using local storage 1. Navigate to “Backup Infrastructure” tab. From “Backup Repository”, select “Add Repository”.
2. Specify the Name and Description of the new repository then click Next.
3. Select Backup to local disk as we are using TeraStation as the backup repository.
4. From Repository Path, click Browse. Note: Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 has deprecated support for SMB shares. Therefore, Linux-based TeraStations must be configured as iSCSI targets to be used as backup repository. 5. Select the storage volume and the folder for the repository path. Create a new folder if needed. Click OK.
Click Next when finish selection.
6. Select the desire retension settings then click Next. The new repository has been setup.
Add the Organization that needs to be backed-up 1. Navigate to “Organizations” tab. Click “Add Org”.
2. Select the Organization development type. Choose Microsoft 365. Check the boxes for the services you want to back up. Then Click Next.
3. Choose Authentication Method. Then Click Next. Region: Select your region Authentication: Select Modern App-Only Authentication Please refer to Veeam User Manual for more detailes.
4. Configure Microsoft Entra AD Application. In this article we will select Register a new Azure AD application automatically as example.
5. Enter a name that you want to use to register a new Microsoft Entra application in your Microsoft Entra ID. Select Install to to specify an SSL certificate on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server.
6. If you don't have your own SSL certificate, click Generate to create a self-signed certificate.
7. Click Finish to generate the certificate.
8. Click Next.
9. To authenticate with Microsoft 365, a code will be displayed in the wizard
· Click the Microsoft.com login link provided in the wizard or copy it to a browser. · Enter the code into the Microsoft webpage. · Sign in with your Azure Global Administrator credentials.
10. Return to the Veeam console; the wizard should automatically detect the successful login and proceed to finish.
Creating a new Backup job 1. Launch the New Backup Job wizard.
2. Specify a backup job name.
3. Select objects to be backed-up. You can select to back up an entire organization or specify users, groups, sites, teams and organizations. To specify objects to back up, click Add and select one of the following options: Users, Groups, Sites, Teams or Organization.
4. Select objects that you do Not want to backup.
5. Specify Backup Repository From the Backup repository drop-down list, select the local storage backup repository which we created earlier.
6. Configure a desired schedule for the backup job.
