-    Make sure your TeraStation has already joined the Remote Management Service (RMS). Please refer to this KB.
-    Make sure your TeraStation has “Remote Settings” option enabled at the Remote Management Service Settings. The option is default Disabled even the TeraStation has already joined the Remote Management Service prior to the feature added firmware update.

-    Buffalo Remote Settings Connection App (Windows-only) needs to be downloaded and installed onto your computer (You will have the option to download it during the initial launch of the Remote Settings feature. See the following Step.5)

1.    From the Remote Management Service portal, select Devices tab.

2.    From the Device List, select the TeraStation that’s ready to be remote setup. The management window will show up at right.

3.    Select the “Remote Settings” tab. Then click “Launch Remote Settings” button.
Note: If the button is greyed-out and “Remote Settings” shows Disabled, confirm the “Remote Settings” option is enabled on the TeraStation.
Note1: if “Remote Settings” option is enabled on the TeraStation but “Launch Remote Settings” button remains greyed-out even after a long period of time, try rebooting the TeraStation,  or Unregister then Re-register the TeraStation to Remote Management Service with the “Remote Settings” option enabled.

4.    Click "OK" to Launch Remote Settings.

5.    If Buffalo Remote Settings Connection App (Windows-only) has not been installed onto your computer, you will be prompt to download the Installer.

5a.  After clicking the “Download Installer” above, it will redirect you to the Buffalo download website. Select the region then click "Next".

5b. Accept the Software License Agreement then click Download.

5c. Execute the downloaded application to begin the installation.

5d. Click "Install" to start the installation.

It might take some time to install the App and the necessary Windows components.

5e. After completing the installation, click "Finish".

Then go back to Step.2 and click “Launch Remote Settings” button again.

6.    With the Remote Settings Connection App installed, your web browser should ask you to “Open Remote Settings Connection App”.

7.    Remote Settings Connection App will launch and try to connect to the remote TeraStation.
This may take some time.

8.    After connection has been made your web browser will automatically open the Remote TeraStation settings page (WEBUI).

9.    You should see the normal WEBUI login page. Go ahead and use the TeraStation credentials to login.

10.    Then you will be able to remotely access your Buffalo TeraStation’s device’s Settings and configure it.

Note that the following operations cannot be performed via remote settings:
Changing WebAccess configuration, changing failover configuration, changing time configuration, viewing file access logs, initializing configuration, running migration, changing Remote Management Settings configuration.

10.     Click “Disconnect and Close” when you no longer need to access the Remote settings. Otherwise the Remote Settings connection will automatically terminate after six hours since the connection was established.

11.     Click OK to confirm the disconnect. Then close the web browser that is accessing the TeraStation’s Settings.

Remote Settings Connection App failed to connect troubleshooting:
•    Make sure that the NAS is not in an environment where it cannot connect to the Internet without a bridge server.
•    Whitelist the NAS from any deep packet inspection or redirect security features on your firewall.
•    Local connections on the same network are not possible.
•    If the NAS or the PC attempting to connect remotely is on a proxy network with SSL decryption enabled, remote settings cannot be used.
